Banks in Akure, the Ondo State capital, hurriedly closed
shops yesterday, following rumours of impending robbery across the state.
Commercial activities were completely paralyzed for hours as
the news spread like wild fire.
Customers were asked to vacate the banking halls immediately

It was gathered that there were reports that some
dare-devil gang of armed robbers had arrived the state capital around 10a.m.,
yesterday.
Many banks even asked their staff to vacate the bank premises and await text messages, if situation normalises.

managers, immediately they got the alert from other managers vacated the bank
for fear of attack.

Speaking with our source, the image maker of the state police
command, Wole Ogodo, confirmed that there was a robbery scare across the state
capital yesterday.
Ogodo, however, said detectives had been deployed to the
nooks and crannies of the state capital.
He pointed out that the state police command was up to the
task, saying their men were always on the alert to track down any suspected
criminals.
