Robbery: Banks Closes In Akure Over

Banks in Akure, the Ondo State capital, hurriedly closed shops yesterday, following rumours of impending robbery across the state.

Commercial activities were completely paralyzed for hours as the news spread like wild fire.

Customers were asked to vacate the banking halls immediately the news got to managers of the banks across the state capital.

It was gathered that there were reports that some dare-devil gang of armed robbers had arrived the state capital around 10a.m., yesterday.
Many banks even asked their staff to vacate the bank premises and await text messages, if situation normalises.

Staff of one of the old generation banks, including managers, immediately they got the alert from other managers vacated the bank for fear of attack.
However, it was later discovered to be a hoax.

Speaking with our source, the image maker of the state police command, Wole Ogodo, confirmed that there was a robbery scare across the state capital yesterday.

Ogodo, however, said detectives had been deployed to the nooks and crannies of the state capital.

He pointed out that the state police command was up to the task, saying their men were always on the alert to track down any suspected criminals.

He pleaded with members of the public to go about their normal business and commercial activities as men of the command were alive to their responsibilities.
