CHIBOK GIRLS: Chukwumerije Blasts CDS For Disclosing Military Secret

Senator Uche Chukwumerije, Chairman, Senate Committee on Education has condemned the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, for revealing that the military has located where the over 234 Chibok girls that were kidnapped on April 14 by Boko Haram is being held captive.

Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, Chukwumerije insisted that such information should have remained a classified military secret.

The senator, who personally blamed Badeh for disclosing what the military considered as a secrete to the public said: “I am very much elated by the news that the location of our girls is now known to the army. But like the rest of the nation, especially observers, I am puzzled by one phrase, according to the military spokesman; their location is a military secret.

“Now what puzzles me is simply this: why do you make public what you consider a military secret? As you are announcing the location or your discovery of the location of these girls, the news is being known to those holding them captive.

“And you think they are going to stay there and wait for you until you come to locate the girls and take them away?

“This puzzles me because we know in all American military operations you don’t hear a word about that until after their mission is accomplished.

“The next you will hear is that their mission has been accomplished. When the leader of Al Qaeda was dealt with, we know how it was done.

“Nobody even had a wind of what was going on until it was completed. So, let us hope and pray that if the news of the location of the girls is true that the enemy is not sufficiently warned to move before our men would strike” Chukwumerije said.

Senator Victor Ndoma – Egba, the Senate Leader also pleaded with the Islamist sect members to free the abducted Chibok girls in the spirit of the Children’s Day.

Meanwhile, the over 234 kidnapped female students have been in captivity for over 40 days now

Nigerian Army: 'We know where missing girls are'

Nigeria's military says it knows where the more than 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram are but it has ruled out using force to rescue them

Nigeria's military knows where the more than 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram are but has ruled out using force to rescue them, the state news agency quoted Chief of Defence Staff Air Marshal Alex Badeh as saying on Monday.
Seven weeks since Boko Haram militants abducted more than 200 girls taking exams in a secondary school in the remote northeastern village of Chibok and little is known of there whereabouts or what exactly the military is doing to get them out.
"The good news for the parents of the girls is that we know where they are, but we cannot tell you," Badeh was quoted as saying. "But where they are held, can we go there with force? We can't kill our girls in the name of trying to get them back."
Most officials think any raid to rescue them would be fraught with danger and probably not worth the risk that the girls would be killed by their captors - an Islamist group that has shown a degree of ruthlessness in killing civilians.
Since the girls were captured, at least 470 civilians have been killed by Boko Haram, which says it is fighting to establish an Islamic state in religiously mixed Nigeria, in various locations, according to a Reuters count

The BBC reported earlier today that a deal was close to being agreed to rescue the girls in exchange for Boko Haram prisoners - a demand the group had made public - but that it was called off at the last minute.
Over the weekend, Senate President David Mark, the country's number three, ruled out doing a deal with Boko Haram.
"This government cannot negotiate with criminals and ... will not exchange people for criminals. A criminal will be treated like a criminal," he was quoted by local media as saying.

Van der Vaart ruled out of World Cup

The Hamburg midfielder has picked up an injury and will not be fit in time for this summer's tournament in Brazil

Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal will have to make do without the services of Rafael van der Vaart at the 2014 World Cup due to a calf injury.

Van der Vaart picked up the knock during Tuesday's training session at Netherlands' camp in Portugal and he has now been ruled out of the finals as a result.

The 30-year-old was widely expected to make Holland's final 23-man squad for the tournament in Brazil, but his physical problems will now prevent him from making it to the third World Cup of his career after previously featuring in 2006 and 2010.

Van der Vaart was the most experienced player in Oranje's squad, having made 109 appearances for the national side since making his debut under Van Gaal back in 2001.

The Hamburg star's withdrawals is yet another blow for the 2010 World Cup runners-up after the previously confirmed absence of Kevin Strootman and Gregory van der Wiel due to injury, too.

The midfielder will likely be replaced by either PSV skipper Georginio Wijnaldum or Feyenoord youngster Tonny Vilhena.

Netherlands meet Spain, Australia and Chile in Group B this summer.

Teacher nabbed for defiling 3 pupils in Ibadan

A teacher, identified as Olayinka Folarin, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly defiling three under-aged primary school girls, including two orphans, who live in an orphanage, His Heritage Home.

The incident happened at a private school in Oluyole Estate, Ibadan. The victims whose ages were put between 10 and 11 years were said to have been serially abused by the teacher.
According to one of the rape victims, the teacher, who has four children, had been having sex with them since 2013 on a weekly basis.
The girls, it was gathered, were being abused inside the school toilet without the knowledge of the school management.

Though, the suspect had allegedly threatened to kill any of the girls who spoke out, but his shady deal was exposed when one of the girls was seen crying after another round of illicit sex with the teacher.
The wailing of the girl prompted some male students to ask what happened to her.  She then confided in them that Folarin had just finished raping her.

Plot to nab him
In a bid to get him red-handed, the boys reportedly told her to let them know when next their teacher wanted to take advantage of them.
The boys advised the girls to tell their guardian, Mrs Temilolu Morounkeji, who runs the home for orphans and vulnerable children after school hours.
It was the woman and one Pastor Marcus Williams, a member of the Child Protection Network, Vanguard gathered, that informed the Police, who later arrested the teacher.

A medical check was carried out on the victims at the Adeoyo state hospital by one Dr Ariwoola and his report read: “Semen was seen around the victims vulva. Hymen was not intact.”
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Olabisi Ilobanafor, described same as “pathetic.”

“This was happening in a school and it has been happening for months undetected. The teacher has been sleeping with the victims in the school toilet. He has been sleeping with the girls every week since last year. When the matter was reported to us, the Police went into the matter and our investigation revealed that he has a gel used in lubricating the girls. The gel has been recovered from where he kept it in the school premises. He has been arrested and he will be charged to court.”

She explained further that the police will also investigate if there were other girls who had the same experience, saying: ”He even threatened to kill them and one of the girls said she was afraid of what the suspect would use in killing her whether physical or spiritual.”

‘We will force Jonathan to run for second term’

A former Security Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government, Chief Richard Kpodoh weekend said the Boko Haram campaign of terror in some parts of the Northern states is targeted at stopping President Goodluck Jonathan from declaring his intention to run for second term in 2015.
According to Kpodoh, though the decision to declare or not to declare to run in the 2015 Presidential election lies with President Goodluck Jonathan, the dangerous tactics of using insecurity as a tool of blackmail against the rising profile of President Goodluck Jonathan will not hold waters as he will be forced by the peace loving populace to run for second term in office.

Chief Kpodoh, who served under Goodluck Jonathan administration in Bayelsa State as Senior Special Assistant on Strategy and Policy Monitoring, in a statement in Yenaoa  urged President Goodluck Jonathan to shun the dangerous antics of opposition politicians through the sponsored killings by the Boko Haram and declare for re-election.
He said:”There is no better time for the President to declare than now. We have studied elected presidents from the time of the second republic with Shehu Shagari, and the military era with Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, Buhari and the elected Olusegun Obasanjo and discovered that the style of administration of Goodluck Jonathan in spite of provocation and temptation, has remained calm, cool and collected.”

“Under past Presidents, the opposition claim they were bold and decisive could not be proved. Many paid oppositions and genuine critics have lambasted, without facts, some policies of the Jonathan administration and nothing violent and deadly happened to them. The so called bold civilian administrations of Obasanjo and the military era of Buhari and others would have boldly dealt with opposition.

“Some of us embarked on criticism against Jonathan administration and nothing evil happened to us.The kind of utterances against Jonathan has never been accommodated by any administration in this country. It is not weakness but an administration style that has human feelings and the one that believe in the unity of the country.”

Chief Kpodoh noted that though the Northern leadership have been at the fore front of criticism against President Goodluck Jonathan, they have failed to accept that the style of Northern leadership have failed and President Goodluck Jonathan should not be blamed for it.

He added: “the Yoruba leaders led by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo believed in the future of his people and created free education policy that has created millions of educated and creative youths.

“Even in the South-east, Igbo leaders allowed education and backed it up with empowerment programme through trading and settlement. In the South-South, empowerment and education led to various questions and improvement from the leaders. There are many businessmen to show for it. How many of such industrious youths were created by the Northern leaders?”

“Instead, what they have created is the league of homeless youths known as Alimajiris. They prefer to feed them daily and hand them dangerous weapon to fight. The Northern successful politicians are interested in building a dynasty of Alimajiris. Is this caused by Jonathan?

“A check on the ownership of oil blocs will show that 60 per cent are Northerners. Let the North leave Jonathan alone. They should solve their problem themselves.”
Chief Kpodo called on President Goodluck Jonathan to shun the antics of Boko Haram and its sponsors and declare his intention to run in 2015.

“What have they done that they have never done. They have killed innocent people in Nyanya, Jos, Kano and many others in order to stop Jonathan at declaring for 2015.”
Jonathan should call the bluff of the Boko Haram and it’s sponsors and declare to run.Or we will declare for him.”

“Instead of sponsoring these deadly onslaught against the people of this country, the sponsors of Boko Haram should invest the fund in campaigns and strategies to contest against the monumental achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“If they claim the worst will happen if Jonathan declares, we want to remind them that nobody or region is born to rule. Everyone or tribes fought in the Nigerian Civil War to keep the nation together. To keep Nigeria one was a task done by all Nigerians. The Ijaws fought and Jasper Adaka Boro died amongst many others.”

John Kerry Claimed: US 'only' country helping to find Nigerian schoolgirls,

US secretary of state leaves allies bemused by saying no one else 'even offered' to help - as three British teams and one RAF spy plane join search.

John Kerry has caused bemusement by claiming that “only” America was helping to find the Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram and no other country had “even offered” to assist.
The US secretary of state spoke as three teams of British advisers worked in Nigeria to locate the 270 missing girls, aided by an RAF surveillance aircraft. One of those groups of officials is specifically charged with liaising with America.
France has also sent advisers to Nigeria and a summit took place in Paris last Saturday on the threat posed by Boko Haram. Israel and China have also offered to assist the search.
Nonetheless, Mr Kerry appears to believe the US is acting alone. During an event at the State Department marking the 90th anniversary of the creation of the American diplomatic service, Mr Kerry said: “Boko Haram, Nigeria – only the United States is there offering the assistance to help find those young women. Other countries not only aren’t they invited, but they didn’t even offer. That’s a difference, and I think it’s a difference worth dwelling on."
A Western diplomatic security source in Lagos, the Nigerian commercial capital, voiced dismay over Mr Kerry’s remarks. “It's all been pretty shambolic and careless on the Nigerian side,” he said. “If we now reckon coordination between the Americans and the Brits and the rest is also pretty poor, then we - and the schoolgirls - are much worse off than we’d thought."

The abduction of the schoolgirls on April 14 focused global attention on the suffering caused by Boko Haram, a radical Islamist movement based in northern Nigeria. Two days after Islamist fighters kidnapped the girls from their boarding school in Borno state, William Hague, the Foreign Secretary, condemned a “cowardly act” and offered to “help the Nigerian government ensure that these children can be returned to their families”

On April 18, Mr Hague agreed to send a team of British advisers during a phone call with Aminu Bashir Wali, the Nigerian foreign minister. This consisted of between eight and 10 officials, including specialists in counter-terrorism, hostage negotiation and victim support.

On May 14, David Cameron announced that a British military team would also go to Nigeria to “embed” in army headquarters. A third team of British officials would be sent to the country to liaise with America and “work with US experts to analyse information on the girls’ location”.

On the same day, President Goodluck Jonathan accepted Britain’s help during a meeting with Mark Simmonds, the Foreign Office minister responsible for Africa.

An RAF Sentinel reconnaissance plane was also dispatched, although it was delayed in Senegal by technical problems. The Ministry of Defence confirmed yesterday that the aircraft was now “operational” and helping the search from a base in Ghana.

“The UK and international partners are working with Nigeria in helping them secure the girls’ release,” said a Foreign Office spokesman, adding that all this assistance was being provided in coordination with America.
This joint effort, apparently invisible to the US secretary of state, may also encounter difficulties with Nigeria’s government

The country’s relatively small army of 62,000 personnel has been accused of boosting support for Boko Haram with a series of clumsy and bloodstained operations. More than 500 people died in March when soldiers opened fire on crowds during a mass escape from a prison in Maiduguri, a state capital in Boko Haram’s heartland.

Boko Haram may also be emboldened by the publicity surrounding the disappearance of the schoolgirls, warned Kyari Mohammed of the Centre for Peace Studies at Modibbo Adama University in Nigeria. “They have sleeper cells all over the northern part of the country and they're activating them,” he said. “We have succeeded in giving them the kind of profile that they didn't have. They are now a bigger player.

Top 10 Richest Actors In The World

Some of the richest actors in the world are not who you’d think.
In a list published by Wealth-X, the planet’s richest actor is Jerry Seinfeld, with a personal fortune of £486 million.
His wealth mainly comes from the ‘Seinfeld’ sitcom, which (as of 2013) has earned more than £2 billion in syndication fees since it ended in 1998.
The comedian takes a major cut of this thanks to a profit-sharing deal with Warner Bros., who own the rights to the show.

Khan, 48, is a veteran of more 50 Hindi films and has won eight prestigious Filmfare Best Actor Awards (considered the Oscars of Bollywood).
Despite his relative anonymity in the west, he may well be the world’s biggest film star with more than a billion fans, according to some estimates.
Tom Cruise is third on the list, with £284 million in the bank.
Next up is Tyler Perry, an actor, producer and director of TV shows and films aimed at African-American audiences, including the Madea franchise and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, he’s made £266 million.
Perry’s wealth is based on retaining full ownership of his projects through his production company, and by cornering this underserved and lucrative niche in the American entertainment industry.

Yoweri Museveni ridiculed the decision of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni, already one of Africa's longest-serving leaders, on Tuesday ridiculed the decision of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to seek assistance from international community in the search of Chibok schoolgirls abducted by the terrorist group Boko Haram.
Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni

During a campaign rally of the National Resistance Movement party Museveni said:
“I have never called the United Nations to guard your security. Me, Yoweri Museveni to say that I have failed to protect my people and I call in the UN....
I would rather hang myself. We prioritized national security by developing a strong army otherwise our Uganda would be like DRC, South Sudan, Somalia or Nigeria where militias have disappeared with school children.
It would be a vote of no confidence to our country and citizens if we can't guarantee our security, what kind of persons would we be?”
This is not the first time when the Nigerian president and Nigerians are blamed for the widespread instability and insecurity in the country. Earlier one more African leader, Robert Mugabe, labeled the country and her citizens as corrupt saying that Zimbabweans are now almost behaving like Nigerians who have to be corruptly paid for every service.
