The Rivers Police command on Friday confirmed the release of
the abducted former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr Okey
Wali.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Wali was
seized by unknown gunmen on Oct. 11 in Port Harcourt.
DSP Ahmad Muhammad, the Public Relations Officer of the
command, told NAN in Port Harcourt that Wali was freed by his captors on
Thursday night.
“Mr Okey Wali was freed last night (Thursday),’’ Muhammad
said.
He, however, refused to disclose if any ransom was paid
before Wali was released and if any arrest had been made.
Meanwhile, Mr Augustine Alege, President, Nigeria Bar
Association, had also confirmed that Wali had been freed by his captors.
Alegeh said in a statement that their former president was
hale, hearty and in high spirit.
