Project Fame 8 takes off - Iyanya, Chidinma other past winners unite

The mention of names like Iyanya and Chidinma rings a bell in Nigeria’s music industry. These two great actors joined forces with iMike, Monica Oga, Ayo, Olawale and Geoffrey, all past winners of MTN Project Fame, to electrify the opening gala show of Season 8.


It was no dull moment at the show as these artistes took turns to give their performances, which are best described as “awesome.”

Their performances lend credence to the fact that MTN Project Fame remains the best music reality show in West Africa.

Just like these past winners, 14 contestants have been selected into the academy for an opportunity to become the next super star that the reality show will produce.

The 14 Qualifiers include; Chike Osebuka Ezekpeazu Deinde Okubajo and Deborah Ohiri Oluwamayowa. Other qualifiers include Jeffrey Ufedo AkorJennifer Chioma AmadiAdanoritsewo Gold Tosanwumi and Funmilayo Comfort Arewa.

Emmanuel Amos AndersonStephen Sackitey Okletey BikoJoy Chukwuma and Olanma Pearl Awa-Agwu also made the list of qualifiers. Amma Korantema KumiRichie TayTejiri Odjighoro completed the roll call of MTN Project Fame 8.0 Academy.

Speaking on the event, General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria, Richard Iweanoge, stated that Project Fame was one of MTN’s platforms dedicated to supporting the growth of music in the country through talent discovery.

“MTN has an unwavering commitment towards supporting the development of the music industry in Nigeria. We are delighted that Project Fame in the last eight years has helped us to achieve this purpose.” He said.




Also present during the event was the MTN Project Fame Faculty comprising Joke Silva, Dupe Ige and Ben Ogbeiwe. After scaling through the hurdles of the Opening Gala, the qualifiers will go head to head against one another in series of performances before the judges and the general public.

They will have to impress the judges, the members of the faculty and especially the general audience to make it through to the final stage.
 
The winner of the competition will walk away with a grand prize of N5m, a brand new SUV and a recording deal worth millions of Naira. The 1st runner up will get a saloon car and N3m. The 2nd runner up will be awarded a brand new saloon car along with N1m while the 3rd runner up will receive a cash prize of N1m.
