Former
Nigeria Under-17 and Under-20 coach John Obuh says he deserves to be given a
back room role in the Super Eagles.
The
Enugu Rangers gaffer said his experience with working with some of the Super
Eagles players at youth level should be a reason for him to be employed.
“At
least 6 players in the Eagles squad have played under me at various levels,” he
said.
If am
in the set-up, I will advise and guide on their usage as I know their strengths
and weaknesses, I am ready for the role if called up.”
On the
usage of players who have played under him at youth level in the Super Eagles,
Obuh cited Ramon Azeez as a victim of poor usage.
“Ramon
Azeez’s case is pathetic. He is such a good player but used wrongly, hence he
failed to sparkle,” he added.
“Yes I
admit he is played in the same role he has been used in at his club, but he is
more defensive than offensive, if I was in the team I would have helped
his cause.”
Obuh
has coached the likes of Emem Eduok, Juwon Oshaniwan, Ejike Uzoenyi, Ramon
Azeez and Ogenyi Onazi at club and youth level at various intervals before
their breakthrough into the Eagles.
