A youth corps member serving in a secondary school in Ezuhu
Umuhu Okwuato autonomous community in Aboh Mbaise Council of Imo State has been
murdered by yet to be identified assailants.
The young man identified as Akpan was found lifeless in a
pool of his own blood with his legs tied and his face covered with his shirt.
According to an eye-witness, neighbours became curious when they have not seen
him around for some time and found his door opened. It was when they entered
his apartment that they discovered his dead body in the room.
Sources revealed that the death of Akpan may not be
unconnected with an alleged love affair with a young lady in the secondary
where he teaches. The affair is said to not have gone well with another rival
who had been dating the girl before the late corps member was posted to the community.
It was also gathered that the boyfriend to the girl had
warned the corps member to desist from following his girlfriend, threatening he
would deal with him if he didn't comply.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesman of the Imo State
Police Command, Mr Andrew Enwerem (DSP). According to him, some arrests have
been made and investigations into the unruly act have commenced immediately.
