Following the death of eleven female members of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) who perished in a car accident on Saturday, February 14,
the federal government has said that there will be a mass burial for the
deceased.
The women were burnt to death along the East-West Road in
Rivers State on their way back from a visit to First Lady, Patience Jonathan in
the Okrika area of the state.
The decision to conduct a mass burial was reportedly reached
by the families of the victims due to the fact that the corpses have been burnt
beyond recognition.
A pathologist also informed the families that testing for
DNA to identify each individual victim could take up to six months.
Mrs. Jonathan on Monday, February 16, paid a visit to the
families of the deceased to share her condolences.
